Suspend or revoke a credential
Where this task sits in the credentials workflow:
Once issued, credentials with a revocation method can be suspended, rendering them invalid until reactivated, or revoked, rendering them permenantly invalid.
In this tutorial you will suspend a credential you have issued, then you will reactivate it, then finally you will revoke it.
Prerequisites
- Procivis One Wallet App
- installed and set up
- holding the credential(s) from issuing a credential
- You are logged in to the Desk
To suspend a credential
-
On the left sidebar, choose Credentials.
→ A list of credentials in the system opens.
-
In the Actions column of the credential you would like to suspend, choose Suspend.
→ Suspend credential popup opens.
-
Choose the duration of the suspension, then choose Confirm.
-
Indefinite – The credential will be invalid until it is reactivated.
-
Specified date – The credential will be invalid until the date-time specified here, at which point it will automatically reactivate.
→ Credential status changes to "Suspended".
-
If you open your Procivis One Wallet holding the credential, you'll see that it is now "Suspended"; the credential cannot be used with verifiers.
When suspending an mdoc credential, the suspension will not take effect until the current Mobile Security Object (MSO) expires. The credential will be valid in wallets until the next MSO refresh cycle.
To reactivate a suspended credential
-
On the left sidebar, choose Credentials.
-
In the Actions column of the suspended credential, choose the three dots icon.
→ More options drop down opens.
-
Choose Revalidate, then Confirm your choice.
→ Credential status changes to "Accepted".
If you open your Procivis One Wallet holding the credential, you'll see that formerly "Suspended" credential has reverted back to being a valid credential again.
To revoke a credential
-
On the left sidebar, choose Credentials.
-
In the Actions column of the suspended credential, choose the three dots icon.
→ More options drop down opens.
-
Choose Revoke, then Confirm your choice.
→ Credential status changes to "Revoked".
Now when you open your Procivis One Wallet holding the credential, you'll see that the credential is now "Revoked" in the wallet. This is a permanent state change; the credential cannot be used with verifiers and cannot be reactivated.
🎉 Congratulations! You've successfully suspended, reactivated, and revoked a credential!
