Issue a credential

Where this task sits in the credentials workflow:

Credentials workflow - Issue

To issue a credential is to make claims about a subject.

In this task you will issue a "National E-ID" and a "Confirmation of Employment", making (fictional) claims about a (fictional) subject.

Prerequisites

  • Procivis One Wallet App, installed and set up
  • You are logged in to the Desk
  • a JPEG or PNG image file of ≤ 0.75 MiB, if issuing a "National E-ID"
  • at least one key*
  • a DID*
  • a credential schema*

* These come preconfigured in your Desk trial, so if you're just logging in for the first time (and you haven't deleted anything 😁) you can start the procedure right away.

To issue a credential

  1. On the left sidebar, choose Credentials.

  2. On the top-right of the Credentials page, choose + Issue credential.

    → Credential setup opens.

  3. Complete the credential setup, then choose Next step:

    • Credential schema – Choose whether you want to issue a "Confirmation of Employment" or a "National E-ID".

      • (Hint: If you want to only issue one credential before moving on to other tutorials choose "Confirmation of Employment".)
    • Issuer DID – Choose an applicable DID.

    • Key – Choose an applicable Key.

    • Transport – Choose an exchange protocol. "OpenID4VC" is a recognized standard while "Procivis" is used for testing and evaluation.

  4. Make claims about the subject, then choose Next step.

  5. After reviewing the credential, choose Issue.

→ The credential offer QR code appears.

  6. With your Procivis One Wallet App, choose Scan QR-Code and scan the offered credential.

  7. In the app, review the offered credential and choose Accept.

→ The credential status on the Desk changes to "Accepted".

🎉 Congratulations! You've successfully issued a credential!

To see multiple credentials working in one verification: repeat the process again, this time issuing a credential with the other credential schema.

Why don't you try requesting a proof next?

Or if you want to skip the verifier use case, you could suspend or revoke the credential you just issued.
